Life in the Garden

Apr 6, 2025    Jon Paul Dennison

When God made preparations for the garden of Eden, He formed Adam from the ground, where he derives his name. As God's image-bearer, he was to cultivate and keep the garden. As part of the God's creation, he was to grow, and bear fruit. When he is given a helper, God's command for them to obey as one flesh was gardening language.

This first man was from the earth, and would not be the consummation of God's story. We even see this as the elements in the garden already exist that will be used for the tabernacle and the temple, of which Eden itself resembled. This all made preparation for the unfolding of God's plan that would be consummated in the second man, the one from heaven.
