Grace Alone

The grace of God is displayed in every area of life, because we did nothing to deserve what we have. From His design in creation to His providence and revelation, God has shown us that nothing we can rightly do ultimately comes from within us, especially in salvation. We are saved by no meritorious work of our own, but by His grace alone.

Reformers like Jan Hus understood that because of this, unlike the practice of his day, every believer should take both the bread and the wine in communion. And Ulrich Zwingli realized that no infusion of meritorious grace came from the physical elements, but true believers, by faith, rightly remember what Jesus already fully accomplished on the cross.
