The Immanent Spirit

Just as God is revealed as Trinitarian at the beginning of Jesus' ministry in his baptism, He is revealed as Trinitarian at the end of His ministry in the great commission. In Jesus' baptismal formula, He commands His disciples to baptize in the singular name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit can never be the forgotten Person of the Godhead if we know Scripture because He is all through it, and authored it. Nor can He be forgotten if our lives have been changed forever, because God dwells and Christ lives in us by His Spirit. In fact, just as the Son came down from heaven without leaving it in the incarnation, so Christ will be with us to the end of the age even as He ascends to the Father. Only because of His Spirit can this be realized.
