Baptism of Disciples

Article 39 of the First London Confession of Faith addresses the issue of baptism as an ordinance for disciples alone. As the first credobaptist confession in church history, it reformed the long-held Roman Catholic understanding of sacramental regenerative baptism further than any other of the reformed paedobaptistic confessions and substantiated baptism's connection to our union with Christ, faith, repentance, forgiveness of sins, reception of the Holy Spirit, circumcision of the heart, death to sin, burial with Christ, resurrection and newness of life, justification, and sanctification. Baptism truly is an ordinance for disciples alone.
Acts 2:37, 38; 8:36-38; 18:8
